indie-fied adventures with auntie

Here is an actual conversation that happened this past weekend between me and Niece 7.

Niece 7: "What are you listening to?"
Me: "A song my friend told me about."
Niece 7: "You have friends??"
Me: "Yes I have friends!!"
Niece 7, sounding rather unconvinced: "Really??"

A short while later, in effort to disestablish the notion that I am the uncool friendless aunt, armed with Suave and Pureology, I took charge of Nephew 9's new haircut and fauxhawked it.  It went over rather well.  Nephew 9 was pretty stoked.  Niece 7 was also fairly excited about her nifty side part and swoopy bangs.   Nephew 11, however, took one look at me when I walked into the room afterward, and ran, yelling "You're not gonna get me!"  I guess he is not as excited about having his hair poked and prodded by auntie.  That is ok.

Nephew 9 and I are always talking about music; he is my little music buddy.  And last night in the car we were listening to the radio, as always. And from the seats behind me I heard Nephew 9 asking Niece 7 if she knew who David Bowie is.  She said no, so he took the opportunity to educate his little sister about who David Bowie is.  It brought such joy to my little heart.

  1. You have friends? Lol. Maybe one day they'll meet us and believe.
